Conceptual development

Before engineering and permits, it helps to see the frame on paper. Early layouts, floor plans, and 3D views let you test ideas while changes are still cheap.

This is where we work through bay spacing, ridge height, species, and joinery. The goal is a scheme you're confident in before it goes to an engineer.

Permit drawings and engineering coordination

We produce the package for permit submission: floor plans, elevations, sections, and connection details. If you need engineering, we bring in an outside engineering firm that specializes in timber frames, so the frame fits your local requirements and how you'll use the building.

If you're an architect who needs a timber specialist to draw the timber frame, we do that often.

Piece drawings and shop documents

Piece drawings are what the shop cuts from: member layouts, joint locations, dimensions, and cut lists. Good ones cut waste and mistakes in the shop and at the raising.

We produce piece drawings for our own fabrication, and as a standalone service for framers who cut their own timber and want better documentation.
